Biography:

Dr. An Mei Chen (Trần Mỹ An) is a Senior Director of Engineering at Qualcomm with over 25 years of experience in the wireless industry. Dr. Chen has worked on a multitude of cutting-edge communication technologies and commercial products during her tenure at Qualcomm, including machine learning, mobile AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), mobile broadcast, wireless health, and advanced multimedia and wireless features and services. Her experience spans multiple groups at the company, including technology innovation, product development, business strategy, standardization, and intellectual property. Dr. Chen is a prolific inventor with over 400 U.S. and international granted patents and over 20 refereed publications including several book chapters. Dr. Chen is currently with Qualcomm’s technology licensing business, where she leads advanced projects and drives strategy and ecosystem growth. She is an executive board member of the Corporate Affiliates Program at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering. Dr. Chen also oversees U.S. and international university research collaboration programs for Qualcomm’s licensing division. Dr. Chen received her Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis on wireless communication theory and systems from the University of California.

Abstract:

Since its founding in 1985, Qualcomm has been dedicated to solving problems that require a deep understanding across complex wireless and computing systems. While best known for smartphone semiconductors, Qualcomm has been a leader in fundamental research, standards, and ecosystem enablement for decades – as well as automotive, networking, and IoT products. This talk will highlight some of that work, including Qualcomm’s current solutions as well as its vision for AI, the edge cloud, and Industrial IoT that can enable a new age of invention in Vietnam. The talk will also touch on past and current efforts within Vietnam to support and accelerate the innovation ecosystem.

Session 02: CIO Global Survey: A Changing Perspective

Biography

Mr. Will Nguyen is currently a Partner of KPMG heading the IT Consulting & Implementation practice for Vietnam and Cambodia. Prior to coming to Vietnam 9 years ago, Will was working in the US retail industry where he served as Information Security Engineer. And prior to that, he was working as an Information Assurance Specialist for one of the leading US Public Accounting firms upon earning his degree in Computer Information System with the emphasis in Application Development & Security. Overall, Will has over 18 years of experience within the field of Information Technology.

Since coming to Vietnam, Will has helped many companies in successfully adopting different technologies to manage their businesses. Within the last 3 years, he has led several Vietnamese companies to become the first company within their sector regionally and globally to succeed in their Cloud transformation journey.

Currently the Regional Director for APAC at Stack Overflow, a global Q&A community platform for developers to share knowledge and collaborate, Mark works with C-level executives to demonstrate how software developers are the key to unlocking innovation and provide advice on how to engage them.

He is also the founder of the Enterprise Sales Forum, a community for B2B sales professionals and leaders to share ideas, network with peers, and learn innovations in the field of sales comprising over 20 global chapters and 25,000 members.

Previously he worked at a diverse group of leading technology companies including Oracle, E.piphany and Siebel. Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Boston University.

He has been instrumental in helping customers meet their strategic imperatives by accelerating adoption of AI solutions - internal development or external, with focus on transformation of business model, improved engagement and enhanced customer experience. He has worked closely with major Business Conglomerates, Unicorn businesses, Universities (Research) and Government agencies on SMART Nation projects. Prior to Nvidia Anish has worked with Hewlett Packard (HP) and Advance Micro Devices (AMD) supporting and engaging with large enterprise customers. Constantin Malik is a cybernetitian at the Malik Institute, Switzerland. Constantin holds a master's degree in law and a doctoral degree in psychology. He is a member of the International Society for the Systems Sciences and the American Society for Cybernetics. JETRO is one of the government affiliated organization under the Ministry of Economic, Trade and Investment of Japan. Juichi Takahashi is CEO of LogiGear Japan. Prior to joining LogiGear, he worked for Microsoft Corporation, SAP Labs Tokyo, and Sony Corporation as leading engineer of software testing. Through his career of those huge software testing projects, Takahashi gained vast knowledge through embedded software through ERP. Takahashi holds a M.S. from Florida Institute of Technology as well as a Ph. D. from Hiroshima City University for software testing research field. Her career is specifically dedicated in IT industry, both hardware device and software development companies, and plays different roles as regional directors for implementing infrastructures on time and being responsible for sales revenue, and P&L. Koji Tauchi is an experienced international business consultant as well as Chief Representative of Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting in HCMC. His carrier started at JETRO and acquired sense of international business and foreign direct investment during various assignments there. In his professional carriers, he stationed in USA for over 4 years. He graduated from Sophia University with Bachelor of Law and acquired MBA from Waseda University. He is a frequent traveler from Ho Chi Minh to many countries, while his family, wife and two daughters, are living in Tokyo and San Diego.

Biography:

Mr. Long Vuong is one of the high-profile professionals in human resource management, corporate governance, and operations management. As a VNITO BOD member, he has been playing key roles in organizing the 1st (2015), the 2nd (2017), and now the 3rd International Conference of VNITO (2019).

Mr. Vuong has worked for LogiGear, a Silicon Valley - based software testing company, for more than 10 years. He is Vice President of HR & Operations. Occasionally he teaches at the University of Economics HCMC (UEH). Mr. Vuong holds a MBA degree (valedictorian), a BA in finance & accounting, and a BA in English linguistics. Interestingly, he is the Vietnamese translator of the best-selling English book “Nudge”, the theory that earned the co-author (Dr. Richard H. Thaler of Chicago University) the Nobel Prize in Economics 2017. Mr. Vuong received an Excellence Prize by Japan Foreign Trade Council in Tokyo 2017 for his initiatives contributed to the Role of Japanese Companies in Global Trade.

Viet is a widely recognized expert in strategic and transformational Procurement. His unique insights and wealth of knowledge regarding individual operational environments are built on his 25 years of transformational experiences at AT Kearney, Accenture, JPM Chase and Russell Investments. Viet has a deep understanding of corporate cultures and has successfully demonstrated the value of indirect procurement across multiple industries and fortune 500 organizations.

In 2018, Viet left the corporate world to start his own company, JKAdvisory (“JKA”). JKA is specifically targeted at helping organizations demonstrate Procurement value to leadership. Biography:

Graduated from University of New York (psychology) by scholarship and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (Economic Major). He has been recognized as one of the youngest successful entrepreneurs in Vietnam. He first started as the CEO of his family company Balaxanh Fertilizing Manufacture, a 20-year-old company that produces and distributes fertilizing nationwide. After 10 years, He started his journey as a startup investor, he became the youngest shark in a popular television game show called shark tank Viet Nam. Until now Le Group Ventures has already invested in more than 20 startups in various industries from food and beverages, tourism, fashion, technology, event services, etc. and Teso – a technology solution company is one of the biggest and the most potential company in his ecosystem, He co-founds Teso with a young and talented and experience tech man Nguyen Huu An, who is the winner of Vietnam startup wheel 2018 – the biggest national tech startup competition of Vietnam.

Dai has more than 20 years of experience in software development and worked on many different types of products, technologies and business models. He has worked in Korea, Canada and the United States and has a deep-rooted understanding of many cultures, businesses and the industry standards. With his diverse experience and skill set, at KMS, Dai has successfully gone through several different roles, including Software Architect, Account Manager, Testing Head and Delivery Head. Currently, he is in Managing Director role, overseeing the whole operation of KMS in Vietnam.

Dai Tran received a BS degree from Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, where he majored in Computer Science. He completed his Executive MBA Program at Shidler School of Business (University of Hawaii at Manoa) in 2015.

Dr. Nguyen Van Vu is a vice dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and chair of the Department of Software Engineering, University of Science, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh city. He is responsible for research, postgraduate programs, and international relations at the Faculty. His courses are focused on the subjects of software engineering. His research interests include software estimation, test automation, software processes, and education in software engineering. Previously, he has worked for KMS Technology Vietnam, IBM US and CSC Vietnam on many software projects on different capabilities including software developer, software architect, project manager, and director.

Dr. Nguyen Van Vu completed his M.S. in 2006 and Ph.D. in 2010 from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Science.

Mr. An Mai is the Vice President of VNITO Alliance and the board member of Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA). An has more than 20 years of experience in digital transformation and outsourcing industry. He has extensive experience in setting up and operating Offshore Development Centers for enterprises from early-stage to Fortune 500. An also has international working experience in USA, Canada and APAC countries.

An is the co-founder of IMT Solutions, a technology service firm focusing on providing digital transformation and software offshore services for a global customer base. Additionally, he is incubating several start-ups with unique products in eCommerce, hospitality, machine learning and crowdsourcing.

An obtained his master degrees in both engineering and business administration. An is a Certified Scrum Master and one of the early adopters of Agile in Vietnam.

Biography:

Prior to the director of KICC HCMC, Mr. Junam Lee supported IT companies to execute International business in terms of Planning, Marketing and Implementing in NIPA(National IT Industry Promotion Agency). And this covers USA, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam geographically. He studied MBA and Economics in Han Yang Univ. in Republic of Korea.

Junam Lee is a director of Korea IT Cooperation Center (KICC) in Ho Chi Minh City. KICC is Korean government’s overseas branch for ICT cooperation under the Ministry of Science and ICT. Dr. Lee, since graduate of the Department of Computer Engineering at Dongguk University in 1985, has been an expert in Korea IT history for 35 years.

Based on his experience in Daewoo Motors Computer Center and Daewoo Information System New Business Division, he is an IT expert and business expert who co-founded Wiz Information System in 1995 and led the KOSDAQ listing in 2000.

Abstract:

The Sentinel Chain (https://sentinel-chain.org/) is a global B2B marketplace for financial services accepting the use livestock as collateral. It addresses two main issues to be solved to allow the asset tokenization of livestock: First, the creation of a process that transforms livestock from ‘dead capital’ to a fungible asset with a transparent and clear defined value. Second, the creation of an open and transparent marketplace that connects the unbanked to the network of global financial providers. With the support of LBVD of the Myanmar Ministry of Agriculture, pilot project was carried out in 2018 with 1000 livestocks that were tagged NFC chips in Myanmar. And the MOU with Rwanda’s Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources was signed in Apr, 2019. LOTUS APP is honored to be the main technology provider of Sentinel Chain from the first day.

After seven years studying Master course at Rostov National University, Russia, Mr. Tran Ho Phuong returned to Vietnam and worked for a Russian telecom company for two years. He later joined NTQ Solution JSC. and spent seven years focusing on NTQ offshore development services. Mr. Tran Ho Phuong has taken various roles in NTQ Solution JSC., from Project Manager, Operation Director to Vice President. With more than 15 years of experience in Information Technology and Software Development, he is now the main person in charge for NTQ Solution JSC. Hung Nguyen co-founded LogiGear in 1994, and is responsible for the company's strategic direction and executive business management. His passion and relentless focus on execution and results has been the driver for the company's innovative approach to software testing, test automation, testing tool solutions and testing education programs.

Hung is co-author of the top-selling book in the software testing field, “Testing Computer Software,” (Wiley, 2nd ed. 1993) and other publications including, “Testing Applications on the Web,” (Wiley, 1st ed. 2001, 2nd ed. 2003), and “Global Software Test Automation,” (HappyAbout Publishing, 2006). His experience prior to LogiGear includes leadership roles in software development, quality, product and business management at Spinnaker, PowerUp, Electronic Arts and Palm Computing.

Served in IT industry for last 32 years including key management positions with IBM for 18 years. Got through broad management experiences in direct or indirect sales for H/W,S/W business, IT & Professional Consulting business and SI/ITO business. Have 5 years of Korea Country Head experience in Wipro Limited Korea and 5 years of Sales Executive experiences in BearingPoint Korea. The recent 10 years job has led me to get a deeper experience in running solution business mostly in Enterprise market and Mid market space as well in Korea. 

Especially as a Head of Wipro Korea, I had established sound Business Base from the scratch so accomplished very high growth & meaningful achievements with Samsung, LG & KT etc. Total IT service revenue which I had produced during 5 years is valued at 50M+ USD up to June 2015.    I had expanded my business size from 1 to 28 direct reports and 80+ on-site headcounts at peak. I am comfortable to work with global matrix organization. Effective and efficient people management capability is something I am able to get as by-product of my working with other people, and I see this as the most valuable asset I came to acquire. 

Based on Outsourcing Experience with Indian IT company and Vietnam IT company, I had been worked as Vietnam Country Manager at Saltware Co. from Oct. 2018. My major role is to establish relationship between Korea S/W solution companies and Vietnam IT service companies. 

Quynh Nguyen is Senior Vice President - General Manager of Global CyberSoft Vietnam (GCS), a company of Hitachi Consulting Corporation. With more than 1,000 professionals, GCS provides IT solutions and services for more than 18 countries worldwide.

Prior to joining Global CyberSoft, Mr. Quynh Nguyen developed broad global experience at top technology companies. Most recently, he was the Country General Director of SCC Vietnam - a company under RigbyGroup of the UK - European largest independent IT and Cloud Services company. Before joining SCC, Mr. Quynh Nguyen had worked as Senior Director of Microsoft, in charge of Public Sector relationship and business development. In total, he has got more than 15 years’ experiences of business management in IT industry with good track records in multi-national corporations such as IBM Hewlett Packard and Schneider Electric.

Mr. Thinh Nguyen (Nguyễn Ngọc Thịnh) had worked in the software industry for over 25 years in the US specializing in rapid developing of enterprise and telecommunication system before moving to Vietnam in 2002. He owned Pyramid Software Development (PSD) in HCMC and sold it in 2010. He is still an active entrepreneur in the high-tech industry working with companies in Vietnam today in areas such as web/mobile application, embedded software, integrated circuit design, and PCB manufacturing. He founded Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) Committee of American Chamber of Commerce Vietnam in 2004 and served as the committee Chairman until 2006. He has also participated in many non-profit projects in Vietnam since 1990 in diverse areas such as medical, education and cultural. Thinh is a graduate of University of New Orleans with a BS degree in Computer Science.

Viet is a widely recognized expert in strategic and transformational supply chain. His unique insights and wealth of knowledge regarding individual operational environments are built on his 25 years of transformational experiences at AT Kearney, Accenture, JPM Chase and Russell Investments.

Viet is a recognized thought leader in the area of Procurement. He is a member of the Sourcing Resource Center Thought Leaders Council, was an Advisory Board Member of SIG, and an EPIC Excellent in Procurement Award Recipient. He has published multiple articles in industry leading publications, e.g. CIO Review, My Purchasing Center, ISM Magazine, In-Tend Supply Chain Magazine.

Viet graduated with a BA and an MA from the University of Oxford, and an MBA from Indiana University. He is a Certified Management Accountant and a Certified Professional in Supply Management.

Vu Lam is the CEO and Founder of KMS Technology, a US-based product engineering and services company with development and testing centers in Vietnam. With 10 years of operation, KMS has grown to over 1000 professionals and been trusted by clients around the globe for superior products and services quality.

Prior to founding KMS, Vu co-founded Paragon Solutions, Inc., a US-based technology consulting company with international development centers in India and Vietnam. His guidance of Paragon Solutions Vietnam led to his recognition as a pioneer of the Vietnam IT industry. In 2003, First Consulting Group, a NASDAQ traded company, acquired Paragon. Vu then led FCG’s Global Shared-Services group through tremendous growth from 400 to 1,300+ resources.
